Revised I-9 Form as of August 1, 2023 | Employee Benefits Alerts
On August 1, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a revised version of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. This form is used to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States. All U.S. employers must properly complete Form I-9 for each individual they hire for employment in the U.S.
The “8/1/2023” updated version contains changes to the form and instructions, including shortening it to one page and reducing the instructions to eight pages. Employers can begin using the new Form I 9 as of 8/1/2023. The Form I-9 dated “10/19/2019” may continue to be used through 10/31/2023. Beginning 11/ 1/2023, only the new Form I 9 dated “08/01/2023” may be used. The version date can be found in the lower-left corner of the form.
